Focus on Mindfulness
Mindfulness is becoming increasingly mainstream. Nicole Meissner, Managing Director and Partner at BCG Digital Ventures, has spoken out about mindfulness and the impact it has on her daily life. She says “Mindfulness helps me to focus on the challenge in front of me. One at a time without guessing what happens in the future. Focused attention moves mountains. Our internal research has shown that practicing mindfulness improves collective intelligence 13% over just 10 days. It is a true performance enhancer!” For those starting out on their mindfulness journey, she says “Celebrate your beginner’s mind. That’s what all mindfulness practitioners have in common: we need to look at every day and every moment with fresh eyes.”

And World WellBeing Week has attracted some famous names too!

Following on from the daily meditations available from world renowned Buddhist meditator, Jack Kornfield, we can now add Audible Inc, the Amazon audiobook platform which has partnered with global publisher, Arianna Huffington. In celebration of World WellBeing Week, Audible’s free sleep and meditation collection is now available to listeners all over the world here.

There’s a reason parents don’t just “drop their kids in bed,” says Arianna. “There’s bath time, a lullaby or story time; you create a transition. As adults, we also need that, to disconnect from our work, problems, projects – so we can emerge from these times not just alive and healthy, but also better.”

TED Talk – the Privilege of Wellbeing with Kerri Kelly
Lakshmi Holmes, the Oceania WellBeing Consultant for EY in Auckland remarked on the incredible resources being shared for World WellBeing Week online this week, and added this TED clip with Kerri Kelly into the mix. She says: “We call it the ‘Wellbeing Gap’ – which decides who gets to be well, and who doesn’t. On paper, health and wellbeing is a human right, but in reality, access to wellness resources and life-saving support systems, is a privilege. In an evolving industry it’s vital that we broaden our scope and work even harder to understand the social, environmental and economic barriers to key health information and services.” Watch it here.

Elvina Aghajanyan, the Head of HR at HSBC CIIOM said “We want our people to see each day as an opportunity to take care of themselves, improve and be 1% better than the day before, to fall in love with taking care of themselves. Mind. Body. Spirit. To be that better version of themselves whatever their goals, level up their skills on financial health, take a mental break with Mindfulness, and start or improve their exercise routine with Zumba on Zoom.” Some of the sessions will be delivered by partners and some by their our own colleagues who are specialised in these areas.
